The Ultimate Queen Celebration
This happened alot when I worked at the hospital. One time this lady asked me to if she could touch my hair. I said "No" ….. She proceeded to touch my shit any way! Then he husband tried to do the same. I was literally backing up from him while he tried! I never said anything cause I didn't want to look crazy or over reactive BUT NOW TRY THQT SHIT WITH ME NOW. I can't deal. I feel for her
The thing is as a person that has kinky textured hair we are associated with so much negativity that what is deemed to be “natural”does not include kinky hair … sadly 😐. We just have to support the truth of what is natural to us a lot more so it drowns out all the negativity. I do think she did what was best for her in that time and we should celebrate her bravery because she could have acted “rudely” and ended up with a law suit.
I’m a white woman and I just want to say I love Jackie so much for always being real and bringing topics like this to light and really using her platform👏🏼 so much respect to her
Martin Luther K-eyboard warrior 💀😂😂😂
You should watch nikki glamour’s “diversity hire” video these ppl really be trying it in the work place!! 🤯
Lovin that t shirt!
Idc if people touch my hair they need n should learn more about it. Lol like its not big deal. And she obviously not sayin nothing so it dont bother her
It' s not okey to touch anybody's hair.
Why in THE hell did she allow them to touch her hair. I don't care how angry I came across I do not want anyone touching me without my consent. I would say you touch my hair I'll pull all you're hair out. You could be digging up your nose for all I know. Black women stop being afraid of them saying "you're an angry black women" when they invade your personal space.
Happened to me in Germany. In a restaurant. While with my crush. She brought out the jug out water and lifted my hair in a full restaurant. So crazy when all these white people who don't speak English are starring. So uncomfortable.
I'm a hairstylist and have specialized in curly hair, and personally I think natural curly hair is beautiful. It's just so naturally unique and beautiful! Loved this video, Jackie! And love the makeup 💕
I died at the yanking of the microbeading!!! 😭😭😭 I love it! Sarcasm has its power in certain instances and this is the perfect example!
ok so this is probably not a popular oppinion vut i domt think the "n" word should be said by anyone because of how the word is a Derogatory term just like if a guy were to call a girl a slut or a whore or even the c word
I'm a cosmetologist so whenever I see some beautiful bouncy amazing looking curls I have to go complement. But I will NEVER just walk up and start touching hair, that's just disrespectful & makes someone feel awkward & if you havent saw natural hair in 2020 yall must really be some kind of special 🙄🤦🏼♀️
My freshman year of college I decided to do a big chop and go natural. Even though I went to a HBCU people in my class would still say “omg you went natural?” And put their fingers all in my fro. It was the most uncomfortable thing ever. I will say I don’t care what race you are, assuming that you can invade my space in that way is just wrong. I will also make the point that while at my place of work I have never been a subject to back handed racism, when I decided to cut my hair and go natural, my mom tried to convince me to not do it because it would be harder for me to find jobs and that my hair texture is too corse and wouldn’t look good without some kind of texturizer. Thankfully I have never been so concerned about what others think, but I couldn’t help but to think about other 18/19 year olds that are taught those same things, by both black and white people.
Personally i get why people feel drawn towards touching curls with how soft and interesting it looks. Or maybe it's because it's different…i was the only asian person in a class full of arab girls with curly hair, and they were always touching my hair. It was a girls only school so no one wore their hijab but I did because I didn't like people always running their hands through my hair without my consent. If people asked i'd be fine. But i never touched any of my curly friends' hair without asking
I HATE when someone touches my hair even my friends!
I have a question but I feel like I’m going to get attacked if I ask
I LOVE HERR AGHH
I have 2C hair and a few years back I was traveling in Raleigh NC. The heat and humidity made it really get frizzy, so I went into a salon to have my hair blown out. The beautician looked at me as if I had just dropped from Mars and told me that my hair might be "too ethnic" to work with. It was an eye opening experience.
Am i the only one that really doesn't care. Maybe it's because I'm in the UK but i just don't think it's that deep
I’m mixed and one of my colleagues at work whom I am kinda friends with talked about a guy from her school who didn’t like being called the n word. And I responded and said that I didn’t like it either and she just said ‘omg people are so sensitive nowadays, it’s just a word’ and I was so shocked because I have never thought about her being that kind of person and I don’t know what to do around her now
I do not wear my natural hair anymore. Middle school was the worst. I wore it natural for a week and so many people thought it was ok to pet me. I’m not a dog do not pet me. Do not ask to pet me please and thank you 😙.
Period Pooh!!!….🤎🤎 this makeup look 😍🥰.
literallyyyyy google it
non black people in the comments acting like this is all common sense, and yet this still happens to a lot of black women💀 somebody LYIN
People always touch my hair because I’m mixed and I have like 3a/3b hair and when people touch it they’re like omg your hair doesn’t feel like Afrohair and I’m like um because it’s not…And it annoys me so much that they touch it and when I say something they’re like ‘but I love when people touch my hair’ and I’m like ‘well I ain’t like u Carol!’
Lol 😂. I had my head patted out of the blue by my old boss, like I was a pet. I wore my hair is a curly Afro. She came up behind me and was like “ wow so soft so bouncy” It threw me off and was so awkward. I Didn’t know how to react especially being at work. I just walked away.
I (a female) have straight, dark brown hair that goes down to my hips. I wear it in a braid down my back. People often feel the need to tell me they want to cut it all off, or ask me when im going to cut it. Some of them even grab my hair as im walking and then act suprised when i take my braid out of their nasty ass hands and get angry. It really freaks me out.
"Don't touch my hair hoe or my chinchilla coat" 💜
🙄 This always gets me! It’s hair, hair comes in all different colors as textures no matter your skin color. I’ve actually witnessed this several times throughout the years and I’ll usually step in and say please don’t violate this women/man’s personal space. They’re just to polite to tell you to stop but trust me they want you to. As someone who’s been in the beauty industry for 25 years it really annoys the shit out of me! My sons hair is incredibly corse and curly and people try to touch his hair too, so maybe white people like to touch corse curly hair, idk 🤷♀️🤦♀️
Yup!!!!!! I was agreeing this whole entire video but what really stood out to me is when you said the girl didn’t defend herself and why she prob didn’t because of the place she works or school or whatever the situation maybe.. she didn’t wanna jeopardize whatever she’s got going for herself. This is the real stuff nobody wanna talk about… I’ve been In this situation and all those people talking junk about the black girl obviously never been in this situation before. Unfortunately people always looking for black women to “react” “ “go off” this is the stereotype placed on us…
And in real life when you actually have responsibilities, things to accomplish, and folks depending on you.. you can’t just jump up and react! Like you said even it’s the other person was actually in the wrong!
Sadly… black women have to be careful how they come off out here… especially in corporate America/ school… ugh.. this whole topic is real. People just push it under the rug.. so it’ll continue to happen..
I don’t really watch the make videos girl, but I love videos like this!! 👏🏾👏🏾
Points were made and as usual, Auntie Jackie came through with a lesson 👏🏽👏🏽 Y’all paying attention?
The answer is no
My sister is half Mexican but has super curly hair like natural black hair. And I always hated when people would come up to her at school and touch her hair out of no where! She hated it too, but, she never said anything and people would pet it like she’s a dog. Seeing her hair was normal for me but I still couldn’t understand why people did that…
Jackie are those press ons????
I am not POC but I can relate to this so much ! I have 3 c hair ans it drives me insane when people touch my hair
I don’t know what would possess someone to go up and touch someone else’s hair without consent unless it was on fire
The Nicki part just took me OUT
Don't touch anyone's hair! I'm not black but the amount of people (of all races and ethnicities) who try to touch my hair is astonishing.
I’m from South AFRICA and I dealt with a micro aggression from a white dude just the other day. It’s everywhere
Why do people feel inclined to touch ANYONE? It’s so disrespectful for you to have your damn hands up on someone’s HEAD. Like .. hello?!
I live in a (somewhat) small town and the fact that I’m black woman comes up more than I can express. How I do my makeup and my hair, my “attitude”, and the colors I wear is always up for discussion. It’s not always worth it to try to inform all the white folks in my area about why what they’re saying is insensitive.
And don't touch my face! Don't ask, just don't
Listen, if you didn’t drop truth in this video!!!!!!!!!! Baaby!!!!!! I agreed with everything you said! EVERY-THING! Don’t touch my hair, PERIOD unless I give you permission! That’s how I roll!
If someone asks then i'd actually be flattered lol, but everyones differentdsujifk.
I just love who you are Jackie I just appreciate you and your platform 🥰 you represent us so well
Do you wash it?Say "no, never" 😒 and wait for their jaw to drop 😂😂😂
You shouldn't touch anyone's hair period
I love your look and your hair !!! ❤️❤️❤️
I remember this old lady who migrated from India(her son and family were my neighbors) She didn't speak English..But I caught her stroking my now 8yr old son one day at the bus stop( he is very melanated-with very silky very curly hair). It was like she was in AWE by the fact that this little chocolatey black boy had this silky, jet black "good" hair..It took all of me to contain my rage..I had to tell her son to please tell his mama to stop touching my child head and that yes he is dark with very silky hair due to genetics (his dad is half white) He is not some anamoly!!
I have had this at work and it s not easy. Everyone is different as my boss and HR at the time is black so it is just the person or persons. You just have to make up in your mind what is good for you.
Loved this video! I remember I had this friend who has very long blonde hair and she went to China for a school trip. She said that so many random people would come up to her and grab and touch her hair. She said it was a really weird experience. She didn’t even know how to respond or react
Solange did not make a whole 3 minute song for y'all to still be out here wildin.
I wish somebody would kick my mother in law. 🤷🏽
My boss’ office is diagonally right in front of my desk and in the summer I wear my hair natural. One day I overheard her say to someone in her office “I hate curly hair”. I look up and she’s looking right at me. So for the next 5 months until it got cold again I wore my hair in all is natural curly glory 👸🏽💅
I totally agree with you but I will say, don’t touch peoples hair…color doesn’t matter, like it’s nasty! And also I will say, I had never seen in person natural hair until I was older and able to leave my home town…sometimes it’s just not common in certain areas BUT that isn’t an excuse to just touch people randomly.
I can’t say I know where your coming from because I’m white as paper but I see it all the time at my work and no matter how many times you correct one asshole there’s Always another ignorant one around the corner, keep preaching you beautiful lady one day this world will change! And a quick side note your skin looks like buttuh!!! ❤️
That shirt tho!
I went to a high school that was pretty much all POC, and everyone always wanted to touch my hair and ask questions because they had never really seen a white girls hair. Which was okay, they were always sweet about it, but it made me realize that I CANNOT imagine someone going through that constantly, especially not knowing the other people’s intentions. It may just be hair, but it’s not everyone’s to touch or discuss.
Me: explains all the reasons why you shouldn’t touch my hair 0:47
Non black ppl: ya’ll hear sum?
When I was in elementary and middle school, a lot of African American girl's loved playing in my hair and braiding it. I always loved it honestly because I LOVE when people play in my hair 😁😁😁
You wouldn’t forget the name of the tshirt came from a white owned brand. 🙀
point blank periodt…
The term “Martin Luther keyboard warrior” killed me
thisfeels like make up video as well
Please, tell more about black girls hair? I want to know more. Everything! How to brush them, how to wash, how to treat properly. How to touch properly ☺️
Who stupid? Who? Not my Tee Jackie…don’t do it…don’t…
Please make a video on Devacurl and how it's literally making people's hair fall out/ruining their curl patterns, I don't really see anyone talking about it but maybe I'm not paying enough attention
You in the begining😂😂😂😂😂😂
People using the excuse "WeLl ivE nEvEr SeEn iT bEfOrE…" Is like someone at an art museum and seeing the Mona Lisa, then proceeding to break the glass and touch it. "WeLl ivE nEvEr SeEn iT bEfOrE…" Like you just don't do that! I don't understand how these people don't understand. Its 2020! Some of y'all need to get a grip.
I’m not a woman but before I loc’d my hair I had a big fro and yes, non black people really tried to touch my hair or asked obscure questions about it. I got called a shaggy dog…. A SHAGGY FUCKING DOG!
You are beautiful
This boggles my mind. I’m a light-skinned Latino male with slightly textured hair and people constantly touch my curls, and my half-sister is dark-skinned with typical textured hair. I would never dream of touching her hair, and that’s my SISTER. I hate it when people touch my hair, and it shows on my face because people always tell me to smile. I would never do that to my sister.
I dont buy the excuse either…People like that just want to be buttholes. Even if you haven't seen it before, you are NOT dumb enough to think that something outside of yourself doesn't exist. STOP IT!
I'm not black but I have curly hair and I hate when people touch my hair. It's hard and expensive to make it look pretty, I don't need you hands all over it!!
Just mercy was good even tho Michael b can’t act
Yea I remember when I cut my hair and my coworkers starting circling me like vultures trying to touch it 😤
PEOPLE PLS KEEP TALKING ABT THIS!!!!!!! Peopel need to know how hard we worked to be able to have our hair naturally free, and then people to say "Its unprofessional "
God forbid you straighten it, then everybody thinks it's a free-for-all to stick their hands all the way to your scalp to root you🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I'm feeling those braids 💜💜
thank you for educating. you make an impact
Do touch nobody ever unless asked…especially a black girl….and especially her hair. So disrespectful. My caucasian hair dont need that shit either
I have no place to put my two cents, on this topic but im here to take a seat and learn 💛💛💛 but on another note I love seeing you use your palette ❤❤ I got it and can't wait to play with it! Love your channel it's a place I not only get to watch videos about something I love but you go outside the scope and talk about REAL stuff ❤❤❤❤ I hope this all translates well. Love you Jackie
“MARTIN LUTHER KEYBOARD” Im-
I LOVE Jackie and her realness…PERIOD!!❤❤❤
The YANKING THE MICRO BEADED EXTENSIONS took me tf OUT 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So much pressure when you are in the workplace. Any type of response other than how she reacted, she would have been labeled as "The angry Black Woman" sighs 😔
I just remembered why I love your channel!! I experienced this, I'm from the UK and I had my hair in braids and two people touched my hair whilst complimenting it. It happened so quickly I had no time to react. Made me feel a bit awkward…
I feel like half of the people in the comments completely missed the TITLE of the video 🤦🏾♀️ we are talking about this problem of people touching black women’s hair. A problem that shouldn’t be a problem at all, unnecessary.
White woman with naturally curly hair, I have never ONCE had a person touch my hair because it's "different" and that's how you know this is race based. Ya'll have seen curly hair before. Stahp.
I am that girl.. lmao.. I would be sitting there like..??? Immo just be honest! I really don’t care 🤷♀️ just don’t touch my hair extensions..lol
Ok… Jackie! I’m tired by now…. can you just wake up ugly for one day? Just one day, plz Gurl xx 😘
Man. I live in southern Germany in a small village (foster family) and people literally know me because i'm coloured. I remember how fascinated everyone was when they saw me and I really have to say i did not meet another coloured person here till i was in my damn teens. The amount of times people have had the audacity to just grab at my hair without even asking……………..I have felt like a zoo animal more than i have breathed in my life ffs.
Racism will never die because it’s like a spider that has birthed 900 eggs that each birth 900 eggs so on and so forth. It’s deep. Real deep. It’s not always surface racism to were people are direct with the disrespect. Even when direct ,y’all still try to “…well maybe “ the situation to death instead of calling a spade a spade.
Thank you so much for using your platform to speak on it things like this. People really needs a fucking know and get it together.
I’m not white but also not black and I have never ever touched someone’s hair because that’s not a normal thing to do? If someone tells me to touch their hair I still won’t do it because I hate being touched by random people I can’t imagine touching someone’s hair.
How satisfying is it to see you set your skin with translucent powder?!😍😍 especially while talking about “uncomfortable” subjects (at least for some people) in such an easy way
