Hei alle sammen! Welcome to another video here at my channel and today I’m heading to another festival Yes, that’s it. I can’t stop. That’s the only thing I’m doing during this summer – …because I’m only working and while I’m not working what am I doing?
– She is impossible. I’m going to concerts. But anyway, we are driving to Halden now to a festival that’s called Imperium. It’s the first edition of this fest and we are very excited, because it’s the first edition after Tons of Rock moved to Oslo, if you haven’t seen the video I’ll link it above so you can see my review of the new Tons of Rock, let’s say this, and now a new festival was announced in Halden, at the Fredriksten Fortress, there are a couple of videos I recorded there already that I will also link in the cards, they will appear in any moment and we got so excited because it’s a festival completely focused in black metal and that’s why we loved it, because Tons of Rock was a bigger festival, more “mixed” within rock, metal, and some different stuff and Imperium is in this intimate vibe they talk a lot about the fortress’ history and how important it is to Norway’s history which I personally think it’s extremely cool. So they started with this fest this year that started yesterday. We couldn’t unfortunately come because we were working but today is Saturday and we manage to attend today. So I’ll show you how it is. It’s certainly much smaller than Tons of Rock. The price of this festival is 666 norwegian crowns to one day and the weekend pass, to Friday and Saturday, costs 1200 kr. We think this is a very good price, so that made us even more excited because it’s full of amazing bands. Yesterday played Valkyrja, Gehenna, Ragnarok today it’s Taake, Uada, Kampfar… so it’s an amazing lineup. Ah, there is a camping area. That was what I wanted to say, it’s possible to camp I’m not sure how much or if you have to pay but I know it’s possible to camp inside the fortress. But that’s it. We are arriving in Halden now, we have just entered in Halden municipality we talk again when possible and as I’m only going today, Saturday I’ll try adding more than just one clip from every band, since I’m only seeing today’s lineup, let’s see how it goes. We have just gotten in and I’m feeling unbearable because check this out I got a badge, we got our wristbands which is very beautiful, gold. They are very professional, right? We got in now, and wow, I need to show you the view because it’s so amazing So I have just arrived home from the festival. Please don’t mid the mess behind me, as you may know, I’m moving soon so I’ll start talking a little about the gigs and my experience attending the festival and give you my final review of what I thought about Imperium 2019. The day started with Acârash, which is a norwegian band they play black metal and I haven’t had the opportunity to see them live before, they play quite a lot specially supporting other bands and I couldn’t manage to see them before today and I really liked them, I think it was very good. A very nice way of starting the day. After that it was Endezzma they are a norwegian black metal band. I don’t know why I’m saying this because almost all the bands are, but anyway they are from Norway and I have never seen them live before I’m considering adding them to my playlist. If you still don’t follow it in Spotify, link is in the box below I enjoyed it, it surprised me in a good way, I think the concert was really good. So it was Uada, the band I was most excited to see today, a band I really love It was the best gig from Inferno last year in my opinion so I was super hyped to see them today It was very good but there was some sound problems, I couldn’t listen the vocal I don’t know if it was where I was, I was in the first row and the vocals were extremely low I know all the songs and it wasn’t that big of a difference because I was singing mentally but that’s the only negative thing I can say about Uada’s gig because the instrumental was very good the volume of the instruments and etc. Endezzma got in the stage a little later so it end up delaying a little Uada’s gig but next band was Mork and they kinda managed to adjust the time plan again. And I think it was good because I was starting to get worried it was going to end much later than the expected So then it was Mork, Guys, my camera suddenly stopped recording, the memory card got full. Anyway… Ah… after that, Taake played and I honestly don’t know what else I can say about Taake here at this channel. Is it the forth time I show they playing here at the channel and every time I will say exactly the same thing that was incredible, amazing. Vocals were great, I could hear it and I was in the first row and still could hear it so it was very good Maybe I would have changed a little the set list but in general, it was great Hoest was crazy as always with an amazing performance they played Cold from The Cure again anyway, very good. Headliner was Kampfar that is a band I have some “reservations”, I don’t like it but I recorded to show you here I saw only the first song and then I left, specially because the gig started 20 minutes later but I wanted to add it here at the vlog because today I saw all the bands, where Kampfar was the last one I want to say thanks to Imperium that gave me the opportunity to attend as press I got the big badge that gave me access to the photographers pit so I was a little on the side but manage to do some good takes for you, specially from Taake and Kampfar I got super happy and want to say thanks again to Imperium, I hope the fest have another edition next year because I got extremely happy to go back to Halden to a festival that was 100% black metal and 90% black metal from Norway, right? Because today the only band that wasn’t norwegian, is Uada. I really loved it. I recorded… the menu from the bar so you could see in the edition how much it cost food and beverages there was toilets in the area, chemical toilets outside, I think I recorded it and also the toilets inside the fortress were available, one exclusive to the girls great. Not sure if I recorded but this option was available which was great. There was a lot of spaces available that we could seat It was good because we could rest a little I think the delaying of some gigs was something that could be better but I perfectly understand the reason and I have one more comment that was more about security there was no one taking care of the photographer’s pit so they could stay there and photograph the whole gig and something very disappointing happened that was people that were not accredited as press that were standing there and seeing the gig from the pit, “in the way” of those who were working and also bothering people from the standing area. I think to the next editions this have to be improved it appear like two security guys in the middle of Taake’s concert to the end, to take care of it this was a pity and another thing that happened as there was no one there some people started to punch each other during Uada’s gig and the grid fell down. I was recording a song at this moment, I have no idea how it end up the guy that was beside me fell together with the grid and got a little hurt this is something I really think it has to be improved to next year You could see that things were happening and the production crew was working massively to fix them which is completely normal, it was the first edition and it was great About merchandising…. Who first? Me or you? Me? Okay, I can show what I bought first. I bought this pin from Uada It cost 50kr and I already pinned it on my vest and I also bought a Taake t-shirt. Where is it? For a while I wanted this gray t-shirt but it was never available at the gigs so Taake came straight from Japan and they brought it. It’s the shield basic but in gray. And behind it it’s written true norwegian black metal this t-shirt cost 250kr Thomas also bought a pin, right? He already pinned at his vest as well but he took it off already Katakomben had a stand there and a friend of mine asked me to buy him a LP to bring for him to Brazil. So as I was there, and Katakomben was there as well I decided to check what they had available, couldn’t find the LP he wanted but I fount this Deathcult LP Why did I buy it? Because Hoest sings and play guitar on it this is Cult of the Dragon, from 2007 if I’m not mistaken now I miss Cult of the Goat from 2017. Does it have a special color? No? It’s black. Okay. That was what I bought… and Thomas bought I bought Nordjevel – The new Nordjevel. No?
– No. This is old. Sorry guys, it’s not the new one but it’s this one. And… see this color it’s blue! Very beautiful right? Do you remember how much it cost? Ah… mine from Deathcult cost 200kr Yours as well? 250kr? So that was all we bought today. And that’s basically this. I really loved this edition it was a small fest, to only few people, with a very intimate vibe, almost familiar the guys from the bands were all around us watching each other because here it’s not very popular to “fangirl” over people so I think people feel more comfortable, specially norwegian bands. Anyway, I loved it. I really hope they are back next year I hope I can manage all the days next time, Friday and Saturday, since I couldn’t go yesterday I can only wish for the best to the festival because I got really happy about it to attend it, be part of the first edition I hope there are next ones. I hope you have enjoyed to see Imperium 2019 here at the channel Tell me in the comments which gig you would like to have seen Like this video!
