After our stay in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina… we went to Novi Sad in Serbia! Serbia is our 7th and last country on our road trip through the Balkans! Novi Sad is behind us, a town in the north of the country and the university town of Serbia. Once a year, the population goes up enormously … … because of the EXIT Festival – we’re about to check it out, too today! But first the sights in Novi Sad: the beautiful old town … the wine region between Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci – wine tasting! The landmark of the city is the Petrovaradin Fortress – the venue for the EXIT Festival Not to mention the home-distilled brandy! The festival was founded by students of the local university in 2000 … they wanted to offer the youth an alternative and a cultural revival after the collapse of Yugoslavia. Meanwhile, the EXIT is one of the most important music events in South East Europe. With up to 200,000 visitors in 4 days! In the next episode we’ll check out the capital of Serbia: Belgrade!
