All over the world there are synagogues
that have arks, have this little cabinet, in which they keep the Torah, the scroll.
When they open they open it up, they say this, they say … Yerushalayim. And from Zion shall go
forth the law and, the Word of the Lord shall go forth from Jerusalem. It’s from
Isaiah 2 where it says, in that day the Word of the Lord will go forth from
Jerusalem. Now think about it. Only one word in all of human history has gone
forth from Jerusalem to the world. It’s not even rabbinical Judaism it’s
the Gospel. Of Messiah. That’s the only faith that began in Jerusalem. Only one
has gone to the world. And so Jerusalem, the, the city of the Book of Acts, all that
begins, Jerusalem. The Church begins in Jerusalem. It’s its natural home. It’s not
Rome. It’s Jerusalem. And then went out to all the earth. But it’s not finished.
Because Jerusalem is also the center of the last days. It’s the city of the end
times. the Bible says in the last days the focus of the entire world will be
upon Jerusalem. As it is written, Zechariah 12, the burden of the Word of
the Lord concerning, concerning Israel. Thus declares the Lord, who stretches out
the heavens, lays the foundation on the earth, forms the spirit of man within him.
Behold I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the
peoples all around. And when the, when the siege is against Jerusalem it will
also be against Judah. It will come about in that day I will make Jerusalem a
heavy stone for all the nations. And all who lift it will be injured severely. And
all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it. Jerusalem is the
city of the second coming of the Lord. Zechariah 14. In that day His feet will
stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem to the east. And the
Mount of Olives will be split in, in it’s middle from east to west by a very
large valley. Half of the mountain will move to the north, half to the south. His
feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. Jerusalem then is the city of the
kingdom of God. Isaiah 2. It will come about, in the last
days, that the mountain of the house of the Lord will be established as a chief
of the mountains. It will be raised up above the hills and all the nations will
stream to it. And many nations will come and say, come let us go up to the mountain of
the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob, that he might teach us His ways
and that we may walk in his path for the law will go forth from Zion and the Word
of the Lord from Jerusalem. So Paul the Apostle writes in Galatians, he writes,
this. Listen. He says, but the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.
Everyone who is born again, Jerusalem is your mother. You are a child of
Jerusalem. And listen to this description of the people of God. This is, this is a
description of the Church. Hebrews 12:22. But you have come to Mount Zion to the
city of the Living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to the myriads of angels to
the General Assembly of the Church, the first born who are enrolled in heaven
and to God the judge of all, to Jesus. You are, you have gathered to Jerusalem, the
heavenly Jerusalem. Revelation 3, verse 12. He who overcomes, I will make him a
pillar in the Temple of my God. He will not go out from it any more. I
will write on him the name of my God and the name of this of the City of my God,
the New Jerusalem which comes down out of heaven, from my God and the new name.
So I’m going to write the name of, God’s people are going to have the name of God, and you’re going to have the name of Jerusalem. Jerusalem. Appears first in Genesis, the city of the
mystical figure Melchizedek, King and Priest, who blesses Abraham. Then God
tells Abraham offer up your son on the mountain of Mount Moriah. Come to Moriah.
Moriah in Jerusalem. The place where … and then, in the Torah God says,
when they’re still in the wilderness, God says, in the place where I will put my name.
I will put my name in that place. Jerusalem is the place of the name
of God. Jerusalem is the center. Not only of Israel, it’s the center of rabbinic
Judaism, Orthodox Judaism, center of Christendom, center of the Middle Ages,
centre of the Crusades. It’s a key center even in Islam. It’s the center of the
world, a world controversy. It’s the center of the world. How many issues were the center of world controversy 50 years ago, and are still
the cent, still controversy, main thing, today? Not many. I mean, back then you had
Vietnam, but you don’t have that. But you’ve got, had Jerusalem. You’ve got Jerusalem now. Back then, this week the Beatles came out with Sergeant Pepper. A whole
different world passed away. Jerusalem’s still in the center. People throw rocks
in Jerusalem, it goes to the United Nations. Israel builds a house in
Jerusalem, the world condemns it. You know, the commercial goes, what happens in Las
Vegas stays in Las Vegas. By the way, what a real wholesome message that is. But
what happens in Jerusalem does not stay in Jerusalem. It goes to the whole world.
Jerusalem’s the center. It’s crazy. It has no major resources. No major Beauty.
No major strategic value. No major anything except for, it’s got
rocks. And yet the world focuses on the rocks. More than any .. but … why? Because God
said so. He said I’ll put my name there. It’s where he defeated death and saved
us. And where he will come again and reign. So the enemy goes crazy, when it
comes to Jerusalem. That’s why the world goes crazy. In the end it says all
nations will come against Jerusalem. One little city. The only city in the world.
The only city of any nation. The only Capital that the nations of the world
refuse to recognize. And to even recognize it is a major world
controversy. By that alone that tells you there’s something special about Jerusalem. The rabbis who said, they wrote, God gave 10 measures of beauty to the
world. He gave 9 of them to Jerusalem. Now it’s amazing because you go to
Jerusalem, again, it’s rocks. But there’s something about those rocks. You go there,
there’s something about it you can’t even put your finger on it. It’s of the
Spirit. It’s something there. You know you’re in the center of the world. You
know you’re in the center of God’s heart. To find out how you can receive more of
