AS A LONGTIME EDUCATOR, GORHAM WORKED AS A TEACHER AT SAINT GABRIEL’S SCHOOL. SHE WAS THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN TO SERVE ON THE PITT COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION. “Mrs. Gorham was a pillar in this community. she loved the children, loved this community. her thing was to learn, advance and obey. that’s what she taught our children in this community.” IN JUST A MATTER OF HOURS, A VISITATION WILL BE HELD FROM 9:30 TO 10 THIS MORNING AT SAINT GABRIEL’S CHURCH HERE IN GREENVILLE.
