The Kunsthistorisches Museum celebrates its
125th birthday with an opulent anniversary exhibition examining European Festival Culture. Treasures and extravagances taken out of various cabinets of curiosities exquisitely revive
the splendour of the court’s festivals. The exhibition presents festive requisites as well as precious show pieces and atmospheric pictures of the past centuries. The court’s
pomp and circumstance on the one hand, as well as colourful, exuberant celebrations
at public festivals and the carnival on the other hand guarantee a real feast for the eyes.
