‘Twas the week before winter break, when
all across UT Dallas, not a Comet was stirring, not even near the trellis. The
magnolias were rustling by the reflecting pools with ease, in
anticipation of the first hard winter freeze. The students were studying for
finals with dread while memories of the fall semester
danced in their heads. The University’s new eSports program became the talk of
the town, as freshmen settled in getting their schedules down. Alumni gathered at
the UT Dallas Rangers game, and the University Mall received a new name.
Comets Giving Day was a great success — the finest to date — while UTD qualified
for Tier One funding from the state. The Student Ambassadors hosted another year of Oozeball, and a relief sculpture of the founders now adorns a DGAC wall.
Homecoming week arrived and was over in a flash, while fall break provided ample opportunity to crash. Soon-to-be
graduates now prepare for finals and accepting school rings, and we’ll follow
their careers as they move on to greater things. As campus closes down in
preparation for the new year, we hope the holidays bring time for rest and good
cheer. From the top of Northside to the Margaret McDermott Mall — Happy Holidays
to one, Happy Holidays to all!
